First Puertollano-Madrid Avant brings forward departure time from September

Renfe is bringing forward the first morning Avant train between Puertollano, Ciudad Real and Madrid from Monday 7 September, allowing passengers to reach the capital before 07:30 – a long‑requested improvement by regular users.

New timetables for the first Avant

According to Renfe’s ticketing system, the new first Avant of the day will depart Puertollano at 06:05 and Ciudad Real at 06:21, with a scheduled arrival at Madrid‑Puerta de Atocha‑Almudena Grandes at 07:25.

Compared with the current timetable (departures at 06:30 from Puertollano and 06:43 from Ciudad Real), the change allows arrival in Madrid 25 minutes earlier, making commuting significantly easier for workers and students.

Strengthening the early morning with more advanced Avants

In addition to the first train, the next two early‑morning Avants are also being brought forward:

  • From Puertollano: second Avant at 06:35 and third at 07:05.
  • From Ciudad Real: second at 06:51 and third at 07:22.
  • Arrivals in Madrid: 07:54 and 08:24, respectively.

With these adjustments, an approximate half‑hourly frequency is maintained between the first three trains of the day, offering staggered options for those who need to be in Madrid early.

User reaction

Pablo López, president of the Association of Avant Users Ciudad Real–Puertollano, welcomed the news with “great joy”, recalling that this has been a demand they have been raising for more than two years.

López stressed the importance of the new timetable being matched by reliable punctuality: “Let’s hope it lasts a long time and that punctuality is maintained, because it is fundamental.”
