Sol commuter station in Madrid shuts on 14 and 15 February for upgrade works in the tunnel. The cut hits C-3 and C-4 lines.
Line changes
Over that weekend, C-3 and C-4 suburban services run as follows:
- C-3 (from Aranjuez): trains terminate at Atocha, not through to Sol.
- C-4 (Colmenar Viejo/Alcobendas-San Sebastián de los Reyes): end at Nuevos Ministerios.
- C-4 (Parla/Getafe Sector 3): terminate at Atocha.
The stoppage is key to carry out tasks at Atocha station, where trains from this tunnel bore can now use platform 8. Out of Atocha’s 10 suburban platforms, four will serve this tunnel, up from the previous three.
Recommended alternatives
If you need to travel the affected stretches, top bets are:
- Atocha-Sol: Madrid Metro line 1.
- Atocha-Nuevos Ministerios: C-2, C-7, C-8, and C-10 suburban lines via Recoletos tunnel bore.
- Sol-Chamartín: Madrid Metro line 1.
